Benefit of Cutting Grass

Ok so while cutting grass still remains a household chore, I realized (yes while cutting grass) that trimming your square yardage (no pun intended) that there are more benefits than one might first realize.

- The first benefit of keeping your rolling planes in trim is just that, it maintains the grass and allows it to grow healthily, on top of that the clippings that are produced create valuable compost whether you bag or mulch. This of course considering that you don't just ship off your excess greenery to the dump, which I as a fellow lawn maintnance hobbyist do not recommend.

- This next benefit has much less to do with the global environment (unless you are of some political power) and much more to do with your personal mental state. I've often found myself going off to mow the lawn frustrated with something. While I admit operating machinery while in an unconcentrated state of mind could be bad, for most of us mowing the lawn is very much routine and you might be surprised how much of the course you have memorized if you mow often. But I digress. After finishing my route I often find myself in a much more sable state of mind, as both the repetitive laps around the lawn and repetitive sound of the mower allows my mind to wander on in its own loops and trails thinking out problems that may have been bothering me when I first started.

- Thirdly, getting your grass cut gives you a very satisfying feeling of accomplishment, great for those lazy Sunday afternoons when you don't feel like doing much. Just hop on the mower make some vegetative carnage. Afterwards you may feel so encouraged by your accomplishment you may go on to larger tasks, overall ending in a very productive day.

- This last tip is for those who want to get back to the lawn care roots and operate a push mower. Pushing around that machine will definitely give you a workout, relative to the size of the job of course, and is a great way to get started on a weight loss plan or just become more active.

Happy Mowing!!
